M.Tam Massage Therapy & Structural Inegration

Back View

BEFORE

Head is turned to the right, left thigh crosses the centre line and the majority of the right hand can be seen. The shoulders are also unequal and quite sloped. The right heel is skewed further from the centre than the left.

AFTER

Head is facing forwards with arms resting at either side. Thighs are more even, knees facing forwards and a more equal space between the heels and the centre line of gravity. Shoulders are much more even comparing side to side. Rotation of the right leg has decreased by one toe’s width from the photo.

Note 1: To be consistent, the line on the photos on the side is drawn up cutting the middle of the sacrum and coccyx (through the centre of the tailbone). We will always be describing observations from the client’s left and right, not which side they appear on the photo.

Note 2: These photos are a snapshot in time. It is difficult to show a 3D object, in a 2D photo. You will be unable to see the new movement possibilities of the models, hear how they felt differently, or how where they are feeling the change in their body if at all. Many thanks to the models shown for graciously allowing us to view and utilize their before and after photos.

Right Side View

BEFORE

Head is far forwards of the central line, with a strong lower back curve and forwards rotation of the pelvis.

AFTER

Due to the straightening and upward lift of structural, the after photo makes this individual seem slimmer even though no additional activities were added to their daily life.

Having shifted the weight backwards over the course of 6 months, much more of their back can be seen on the left side of the centre line (their lower back curve has been lessened). The head (as seen by the position of their ear) is much closer to the line of gravity than the before photo.

Note 1: To be consistent, the line on the photos on the side is drawn up from the lateral malleolus (middle of the right ankle bone). We will always be describing observations from the client’s left and right, not which side they appear on the photo.
